Victorian Era and its Charm

The main idea of steampunk clothing is to represent the futuristic view of Victorian era yet maintaining the underdeveloped sense of styling. A true steampunk can relates to the work of H.G. Wells and Jules Verne. They were the famous novel writers of punk theme. For many punk style is extremely outrageous and objectionable but who cares, everyone has this and that opinion nevertheless my heart tingles for steampunk costumes.

For me being into punk attire is all about nourishing of ideas that Victorian people laid long ago. Victorian era was a period of tranquil, prosperity and self confidence among people for nation. Great scientific discoveries and inventions are synonyms to that period and apart from punk styled Victorian clothing achievement in the field of science act as base for punk lifestyle. Punk culture is always associated with rebellious behavior of people, I suppose they have misunderstood the whole concept of this newly established sub-genre because the era from which punk movement is inspired only praised for peace and progress. This sub-genre support the agitation against the social disparity in society, punks do not go louder without any means. Despite the repression steampunk sub-culture has grown into phenomenon bringing people together from diverse part of the world under one theme.

Every punk person has set of their favorite steampunk dresses and I am one of them. Actually I have three set of punk Victorian costumes.

Steampunk Harness Dress - This ensemble consist of leather harness, the duggin frilly skirt and McGreedy blouse. Faux leather harness has drawstrings in front and cross designs in back for support. Blouse is made of viscose rayon fabric and had elasticized neck with front opening ties. Elastic neck of blouse allows it to be a dropping shoulder blouse as well. Skirt is made of satin fabric with five layers of frills, giving it voluminous look. Do you know why I chose this dress, because it makes me look graceful and gorgeous?

Captain of the Skies – The dress which exactly tells my attitude. I love this dress, not too reveling yet uber stylish. It is a set of two pieces - captain of the skies over bust corset and a short skirt. My steampunk corset is made of suede fabric and has zipper and drawstring in front. Faux leather straps and black lining are for comfort fit. Short skirt of black linen fabric with metal embellishment on it goes very well with corset.

The Wickfield Dress – Again the set has three pieces the Wickfield blouse, Marquess underbust corset and satin pegged skirt. Alluring poly satin blouse is adorned by net fabric in cuffs. Cotton velvet underbust corset has black twill lining for comfort fit. Skirt has double layers and made of poly satin fabric in combination with small frills and pegged patterns. It has small hanging part at the back which adds elegance to attire. This dress can be worn with or without corset and has very appealing and fascinating approach.

Unlike other conventional clothing, these above stated steampunk costumes literally project my true style. Don’t hid your love for punk subculture go and grab the ensemble of punk Victorian dresses.

Steampunk and Victorian Dresses –Swish and Sway

The more things change, the more they remain the same. Only with some slight twists when it comes to womens dresses. This is amply shown in the changing fashions and styles that draw inspiration from past designs. Steampunk dresses are inspired by fabulous Victorian dresses so prevalent in England that again based their styles on Gothic and medieval styles. While modern clothing is trendy in its own right, it is highly functional, devoid of embellishments that so adorn women and give them allure. Steampunk costumes based on Victorian costumes are a revival of styles that use lots of frills, lace and embellishment along with accessories to match. If you plan on going to a party or making a style statement, go for steampunk dresses.

Steampunk has, like the Phoenix, risen from being an obscure fashion style to its way to becoming popular and entering the mainstream fashion line. What would have been construed as sloppy and pretentious is today stylish and glamorous. That is steampunk dress for you. It is the Victorian dress style re-invented and evolved with the same basic set of genes but overlaid by modern tones in fashion. In hindsight, the rising popularity of steampunk clothing based on Victorian corset style is inevitable since they are depicted on TV and movies, generating a desire in women to look just as alluring as the stars swishing and swaying on the screen.

Most steampunk corset ideas are heavily based on Victorian costume styles prevalent during the 19th century. Victorian dress style of that period made generous use of exquisite materials and flowing drape, heavy corsets, frills, pleats, ruffles, fringes and braids as embellishments along with form fitting jackets. It is totally different and utterly feminine. A woman accoutered in Victorian dress could look demure and submissive or depict a haughty look, as she pleased. Steampunk dresses, while inspired heavily by 18th and 19th century Victorian dresses, accent the Victorian Haute Couture with a different interpretation and tweaks for a modernistic look.

Today one can choose from a range of Victorian dress inspired steampunk dresses from brick and mortar stores as well as from online stores. If fab and glam are keywords for your looks, and you want to give these an added twist, steampunk dresses will answer your needs. You have freedom to pick and choose, innovate and add your own ideas if you want a custom ensemble or you can pick from the steampunk dress styles such as aristocrat, maid, fortune teller, witch and so on. Costume parties take on a different air when we have women swish and sway, resplendent in steampunk dresses.

There is a complete line that includes blouses, tops, lingerie, waistcoats, bottoms, dresses, outfits, belts, bags, shoes and accessories in the steampunk dress range you can luxuriate in. A bustle skirt that emphasizes hips and curves and gives a decided allure can be just the thing in steampunk dress that will give you a hot, hot look. What makes modern steampunk dresses better is that they are made of synthetic fabric, easy to wash and care for.

Available from many online stores, one could be spoilt for choices when it comes to Victorian dresses inspired steampunk costumes.

Steampunk, Style and Statement – the Three Magical Trio of Women’s Punk Clothing

Steampunk CostumesSteampunk costumes reflect the true sense of steampunk subgenre – a subgenre originated from the combination of alternate history, Science fiction and fantasy. The basic nature of steampunk is inspired from Victorian era of Britain and Wild West of USA. Either fantasy or science fiction of these two regions is highlighted by steampunks. The imagined scientific technologies include analog computers, mechanical computes and lighter airship even lighter than air. Philip Pullman and Scott Westerfeld were contemporary authors who had mentioned about fictional machines in their work.

Steampunk clothing is all about futuristic innovative ideas of Victorian era with the same level of powered technology as steam engine has and for the final touch punk element is there, a word for rebellious nature. Some people just carry themselves as master of machine and some as fictional characters of Victorian era but I love to portray my individuality, with the nuance of rebellious side of me. Captain of the Skies is my all time favorite steampunk dress. It reflects a bit of my rebellious side and induces a sense of power.

Like me if you want to have your own collection of punk Victorian costumes haunt them offline or online stores. Today myriad of punk clothing are in market with flavor of innovative designs and striking appearance, proving true to the basics of steampunk theme. Search your favorite costume atleast on 3 to 4 websites for best deal however don’t compromise with the quality of fabric for the sake of money.
